Summary

Kung Fu Kid is a quirky beat‑’em‑up for the Sega Master System that builds on its SG‑1000 predecessor, Dragon Wang. The game lets you step back into the shoes of Wang, a kung‑fu master who can both wall‑jump and throw a range of martial‑arts attacks at swarms of enemies. What really sticks in my mind is the odd power‑up: a lobster that, when collected, grants temporary abilities—a mechanic that Computer Gaming World slammed as “incredibly contrived.” The graphics are tiny and cartoon‑ish, and the original English manual’s Engrish phrases—like battling “the unnaturally evil one”—gave the title an unintentional comedic flair. In Brazil the game resurfaced in 1995 under the whimsical name *Sapo Xulé O Mestre do Kung Fu*, complete with graphical swaps, and today you can even try it for free right in your browser via the Internet Archive.
