Summary

Great Volleyball, known in Japan as グレートバレーボール, is a quirky entry in Sega’s Great Sports line for the Master System. The game captures the breezy feel of a beachside match, with bright sprites that pop against a simple sky‑blue backdrop. Even though the controls are straightforward—move, jump, and spike—the timing feels surprisingly tight, rewarding quick reflexes.

What makes it stand out is the way it squeezes a full‑court experience into the eight‑bit hardware, complete with a two‑player mode that lets friends rally side by side on the same couch. The occasional quirky sound effects, like a cartoonish “boing” on a missed hit, add a playful charm that still feels fresh today.
