Summary

Galactic Protector is a quirky shoot‑'em‑up that only works with the Master System’s Paddle Controller, meaning you can’t just grab a regular joypad and fire away. The game puts Opa Opa—Sega’s mascot from Fantasy Zone and the Zillion series—behind the helm, tasking him with defending a string of planets from a relentless barrage of enemy ships and space debris. Because it relies on the paddle’s analog spin, the title has always been a headache for emulators, and even original hardware owners needed the special peripheral to play it properly. It never saw a release outside Japan, staying hidden until it resurfaced as part of the Japan‑only Fantasy Zone Complete Collection on PlayStation 2. That limited exposure makes finding a working copy feel like a tiny treasure for retro fans.
