Summary
G-LOC: Air Battle landed on the Master System as a faithful yet distinct spin on the arcade hit. While the core dogfighting feels the same, the console version throws in brand‑new boss encounters that never appeared in the original cabinets. Those extra adversaries give the home version a fresh challenge loop, compensating for the loss of the R360’s full‑body motion that made the arcade experience so kinetic. The game still carries the same high‑speed, G‑force‑induced combat vibe that defined the series, but the added bosses turn each level into a mini‑showdown rather than just a point‑chasing sprint. For anyone who loved the arcade’s rotating platform or just wanted a solid flight‑sim on a 8‑bit system, the Master System port offers a unique blend of arcade authenticity and exclusive content.
Storyline
G-LOC: Air Battle drops you into the cockpit of an experimental fighter, the A8M5, for fast‑paced dogfights against enemy aircraft. The casual title G-LOC is often used by fans of the Sega Master System classic.
The game ends when you take too many hits or the timer runs out, but you can earn extra time and move to new stages by completing the specific goals set for each level. Your armament starts out limited and is refilled only after you finish missions successfully.
During each sortie you decide which targets to engage—ships, jet fighters, or even ground‑based tanks—adding a strategic layer to the aerial combat.
Boss encounters include the floating War Balloon, a massive Bomber, and finally an enemy ace piloting the same type of plane as you, but with boosted durability and firepower.
As you progress the A8M5 is upgraded, eventually becoming the more powerful A8M6, giving you the edge needed to finish the campaign.
