Summary
Fire & Ice (sometimes called Fire and Ice: The Daring Adventures of Cool Coyote) drops you into the shoes of a mischievous coyote armed with a frosty arsenal. You dash across scrolling platforms, hurling ice cubes at birds, penguins and other critters; each hit freezes the foe, and a quick touch shatters it for good. Defeated enemies sometimes drop fragments of a key, and you must piece together every fragment before the exit door will unlock. The Master System version, built by Graftgold for Virgin Games, keeps the core loop tight and responsive, making each level feel like a puzzle‑run‑and‑gun sprint. Though the game’s visual flair was later expanded on the Amiga CD32 with richer colors and parallax layers, the 8‑bit incarnation still manages a crisp sense of depth thanks to its layered backgrounds. South American players got a special release, but the core challenge—collecting key pieces while staying one freeze ahead of the enemy—remains universally addictive.
Storyline
In Fire & Ice, you play as a coyote racing across a series of colorful worlds. The quirky hero hurls ice cubes at enemies and obstacles, clearing a path forward. Each stage presents its own challenges, from shifting platforms to hostile creatures. The simple yet addictive gameplay revolves around speed and precise ice‑throwing. The game’s charm lies in its bright graphics and the satisfying feel of blasting frosty projectiles.
