Summary

Disney's Bonkers: Wax Up! finally made its way to the Master System in 1998, but only thanks to Tec Toy’s Brazil‑only release. The game keeps the cartoon’s slap‑stick charm while translating the handheld platforming action to the 8‑bit console.

You guide Bonkers through a series of side‑scrolling stages, hunting down seven hidden pickle clues. A pause‑activated compass points the way and shows how many clues remain, while the control scheme lets you run, jump, duck and even slide by pressing the opposite direction while sprinting. Along the route you’ll rescue waxed‑in‑place toons and dodge the series’ typical hazards.

Health is restored with coffee cups, donuts, pizza slices and other food items, while badges boost your score and Bonkers icons grant extra lives. Bonus rooms appear when you meet friends like Marylin, sending you down a mine‑cart rail to collect Toon Toaster pieces before a showdown with a familiar TV‑show villain.

Critics didn’t love the Master System version; it fell short of the Game Gear original and is now mostly a curiosity for Tec Toy collectors.

Storyline

In Bonkers Wax Up! the toon cop Bonkers D. Bobcat is on a frantic mission to track down a trail that leads straight to a sinister casting factory. There he must rescue his partner Lucky Piquel and a handful of fellow toons who have been encased as wax statues by the villainous Madame Whosaid, who dreams of opening her own wax museum. Madame Whosaid (also referred to as Madame Who‑Said) has already coated famous toons in wax and now has Bonkers in her sights. To stop her, Bonkers must free Lucky, locate the mysterious Toon Toaster and use it to reverse the wax‑coating. Only then can the trapped toons be restored and the wax museum plot foiled.
