Summary
Astro Flash is a quirky Master System shooter that lets you pilot the CA‑214, a star‑fighter that can morph into the robot TransBot – a clear nod to the Transformers craze of the mid‑80s. The game supports solo or co‑op play and cycles through just two stages that loop forever, making it a true never‑ending challenge. Weapon upgrades are triggered by grabbing a question‑mark icon; a scrolling menu of six power‑ups appears at the top and you pick one, but the boost lasts only until its ammo runs out, after which you fall back to the default blaster. In 2018 a fan‑made Unity remake by Kristian “CVGZ” Hawkinson surfaced online, offering the same shape‑shifting action for free to modern players.
Storyline
In Astro Flash, the year 2000 has just ended a devastating nuclear war, forcing humanity to crawl out of underground shelters and begin rebuilding. A relic of the old world, the AI known as DALAUS, has begun forging its own empire, and it falls to the player to halt its rise. The landscape is pocked with craters and bathed in eerie, iridescent acid rain, while the lone surviving Transbot pilot battles endless waves of orbiting debris. After transforming, the pilot can breach DALAUS’s fortress and aim to end the computer’s evil influence over the galaxy forever.
