Summary

Ariel the Little Mermaid lets you slip into the fins of either Ariel or King Triton, a mechanic that feels oddly reminiscent of Ecco the Dolphin’s underwater navigation. Your goal is to undo Ursula’s curse that has turned the kingdom’s merfolk into harmless polyps, and depending on your hero, you’ll also have to rescue the other from the sea‑witch’s clutches.

The game is split into four distinct stages—a reef maze teeming with sharks and eels, a haunted sunken ship, the crumbling ruins of Atlantis with arrow‑shooting statues, and finally a network of volcanic caves. Ariel clears foes by singing, while Triton hurls bolts of lightning, and each level culminates in a boss fight after you’ve collected enough polyps. Three difficulty settings tweak the starting cash, map availability, and how directly the game guides you to each boss.

Sebastian, Flounder, and a quirky Digger Fish pop in to lend a hand—scaring enemies, moving obstructing rocks, or digging up hidden treasure. Storyline
