Summary

WWF Raw (often just called "Raw") brings the over‑the‑top feel of 1990s WWF television to the Genesis controller. The game’s core mechanic is a tug‑of‑war meter that pops up whenever wrestlers lock‑up; rapid button presses shift the energy to your side, letting you unleash signature and exaggerated "mega" moves once the opponent’s stamina dips low enough. Each superstar—Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Yokozuna, and the rest of the twelve‑man roster—has a distinct move set and individual attributes for speed, strength, stamina and weight, so the match feels different depending on who you pick.

Beyond the classic One‑on‑One and Tag Team bouts, Raw adds Bedlam, Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, and a Raw Endurance mode that lets you stack up to six wrestlers on one side, creating chaotic, multi‑man brawls. The 32X version sneaks in a hidden Kwang, extra weapon attacks, and alternating commentators and referees, while the standard Genesis cartridge lacks those extras but still supports four‑player multitap action.

Critics were split: GamePro praised the deep move list and smooth performance, yet noted the uniform wrestler height, and Electronic Gaming Monthly called the controls clunky and the AI uneven. Still, the sheer variety of match types and the ability to pull off massive finishing moves kept fans returning to the ring long after the TV show went off the air.
