Summary

Wayne Gretzky and the NHLPA All-Stars lets you step onto the ice with the Great One and a roster of 600 NHLPA players, from Mario Lemieux to Eric Lindros. The Genesis version even formalizes every name—Thomas instead of Tom, Steven for Steve—adding a quirky touch that fans still notice.

Beyond the usual exhibition, season and playoff modes, the game offers a "Just Play" shortcut that drops you into a random match, and a split‑screen "Simulation Mode" that enforces penalties for a more authentic feel. For those craving pure arcade action, the dedicated Arcade Mode dials back the rules and amps up the chaos, while a sound test lets you hear country‑style tunes for Canada and rock‑and‑roll for the USA.

International flavor shines with six extra teams—Sweden, Finland, Czechoslovakia, Russia, the United States and Canada—so you can trade the NHL city jerseys for national colors, even if the default palettes are a bit off. The two‑player battery‑backed stats tracking keeps the rivalry alive long after the final buzzer.
