Summary
Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster's Hidden Treasure marks the first Tiny Toon title to land on the Sega Genesis, and it never saw a Japanese release. In South Korea it slipped out under the shortened name Tiny Toons Adventures, highlighting its regional quirks. The game offers a hefty 33 stages spread across wildly different settings – from enchanted woods and icy plains to lava‑cooked caverns – each teeming with hidden paths and bonus portals that drop you into Wackyland for frantic item hunts.
Gameplay leans heavily on precise platforming; you only control Buster Bunny, and the goal is to locate Gogo Dodo to trigger portals that advance you deeper into the treasure hunt. While the soundtrack can feel repetitive, the visuals are praised for crisp, colorful sprites and smooth animation that capture the cartoon’s zany vibe. MegaTech highlighted the graphics and varied environments, and Power Unlimited gave a 90% score, noting the fun factor despite the limited character roster.
Storyline
In Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster's Hidden Treasure, Buster Bunny sets out to track down the treasure‑thieving Montana Max and rescue Babs Bunny. Along the way he battles a parade of classic foes, from the sneaky Roderick Rat to the mad scientist Gene Splicer. Gene has fitted his friends with mind‑controlling helmets, turning Plucky Duck, Hamton J. Pig, Dizzy Devil and Calamity Coyote into unwilling henchmen.
When Buster finally defeats Gene, the helmets explode in a burst of cartoon fireworks, leaving the brain‑washed allies dazed or tumbling in typical slapstick fashion. With the friends freed, Buster can focus on confronting Montana Max and reclaiming the hidden loot.
