Summary

Theme Park drops you onto a modest plot in the United Kingdom with a few hundred thousand pounds and a bus‑filled crowd waiting for fun. You lay out paths, place teacups, haunted houses or a towering roller‑coaster, then sprinkle in food stalls, souvenir shops and even a fountain or two to keep the scenery lively.

Every shop can be tweaked – sugar, salt or caffeine levels – to coax repeat visits, while rides demand regular upkeep or risk a spectacular explosion. Hiring entertainers, security, mechanics and handymen keeps footpaths clean, queues moving and the park safe.

Research unlocks newer attractions, sturdier rides and larger buses, and the game scales its challenge with three simulation levels or a sandbox that strips away the paperwork. At year’s end you’re judged against rivals, with trophies for feats like the longest coaster.

The Mega Drive port, graphics polished by Mark Healey, adds exotic locales such as deserts and glaciers, and was essentially finished by April 1995, giving console fans a taste of the same deep‑management experience.

Storyline

In the original concept for Theme Park on the Sega Genesis, the player was supposed to assume the role of a nephew who had just inherited a sizable fortune from his aunt. The inheritance was earmarked exclusively for building the world’s largest and most profitable amusement park. This back‑story framed the gameplay as a family legacy, driving the player to invest the newfound wealth into rides, attractions, and park management. Though the final release shifted away from this narrative, the early storyline highlighted the ambition of turning a sudden windfall into a thriving theme‑park empire.
