Summary
The Adventures of Batman & Robin on the Sega Genesis (often just called "Batman & Robin") is a hectic run‑and‑gun that let me team up with a friend in full‑time co‑op – a feature the SNES version never got. Developed by Clockwork Tortoise and published by Sega, you blast through four levels as Batman or Robin, tossing batarangs, bolas or shurikens at the likes of Joker, Two‑Face, the Mad Hatter and the ever‑cool Mr. Freeze. Certain sections flip into a side‑scrolling shooter when you pilot the Bat‑wings. The game is notorious for its brutal difficulty but rewards you with flashy special‑effects and a memorable Jesper Kyd soundtrack that still sounds surprisingly rich on the Genesis’s FM synth chip.
Storyline
The Adventures of Batman & Robin drops you into a frozen Gotham nightmare. Mr. Freeze has hatched a plan to blanket the city in ice, and it’s up to Batman and Robin to stop him.
To make things worse, Freeze breaks out several of Gotham’s most notorious criminals—Joker, Two‑Face, and Mad Hatter—from Arkham. Their chaotic interference is designed to keep the Dynamic Duo busy while the villain’s icy agenda unfolds.
