Summary

Stormlord on the Genesis mixes classic platforming with occasional shoot‑em‑up bursts, letting you fling a star‑shaped projectile at foes and zip across levels on a super‑charged trampoline—or, in this version, a falcon that can whisk you away on one‑way trips. The game throws a variety of hazards at you, from snapping Venus fly‑traps and acid rain showers to fire‑breathing dragons, while a helpful eagle named Mael Dvin appears when a jump is otherwise impossible. A strict sunset timer forces you to plan each route carefully, especially since the falcon won’t carry you if any fairies remain unrescued in the current area. The Genesis release sparked controversy when Sega of America demanded that Razorsoft add clothing over the fairies’ bare chests, leading to a recall and a later legal clash over trademark use. Despite the uproar, critics praised the title: CRASH awarded it a 91% “Smash” rating, Your Sinclair gave it 93%, and Entertainment Weekly noted its strategic depth, cementing Stormlord’s cult status among retro fans.
