Summary
Spiritual Warfare is a quirky, top‑down action title that feels like a Christian‑flavoured take on The Legend of Zelda. Developed by Wisdom Tree, the game slipped past Nintendo’s licensing gate and found its way onto store shelves in churches rather than the usual video‑game aisles. Its gameplay revolves around a simple wind‑and‑dust bomb and a more elaborate “Fruits of the Holy Spirit” system – pears, pomegranates, apples, grapes and bananas that you collect and wield to rescue souls from demonic foes. A dove serves as the in‑game currency, letting you purchase extra fruit power‑ups, while occasional angels drop by to quiz you on Bible trivia in exchange for helpful bonuses. Along the way you can snag biblical relics such as Samson’s Jawbone or Anointing Oil, and you must gather the six pieces of the Armor of God, each guarded by a tougher demon boss. After its original unlicensed NES run, the title migrated to MS‑DOS, Game Boy and Sega Genesis, and resurfaced in 2017 as part of the Spiritual Warfare & Wisdom Tree Collection on Steam, wrapped in a DOSBox emulator for modern PCs.
Storyline
Spiritual Warfare (Unl) puts you in the boots of a soldier of God, tasked with battling the forces of darkness across a modern city. Each piece of the biblical "armor of God" is guarded by a powerful demon boss, and you must defeat them to claim the armor. Angels can lend a hand, but only if you correctly answer their Bible‑based questions. The challenges grow tougher as you progress, culminating in a final showdown with Satan himself.
