Storyline

Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis follows the blue hedgehog as he races to stop the mad scientist Doctor Robotnik—also known as Dr. Eggman—from seizing the six powerful Chaos Emeralds. Eggman has imprisoned the animal residents of South Island inside hostile robots and metal capsules, hoping to harness the emeralds’ energy for his own schemes. Sonic’s mission is to free his friends, dismantle the robotic traps, and gather the emeralds before the villain can claim them. If the player manages to collect every Chaos Emerald, the game rewards them with a special ending sequence. Failing to secure all six triggers an alternate conclusion where Eggman taunts the player while juggling the missing emeralds.
