Summary
Sonic Eraser is a quirky side‑step from the usual high‑speed platforming we associate with the blue blur. It only ever lived on Japan’s Sega Meganet service, the modem add‑on for the Mega Drive, which meant most of us never even heard of it until a ROM surfaced on the Sonic CulT site in 2004. The game is essentially a match‑three puzzle, but with a Sonic twist: line up three identical pieces and your Sonic launches an attack that briefly scrambles the opponent’s board, stealing a moment of control. Though the concept is simple, the competitive “versus” mode feels oddly satisfying, especially knowing it was tucked away on Sega’s B‑Club download platform, making it one of the series’ most elusive titles.
