Summary

Slap Fight MD (スラップファイト) is a quirky little shooter that lets you flip between two distinct experiences right from the Options menu. Selecting "Normal" drops you into a faithful port of Toaplan’s 1986 arcade classic, complete with the original sound or a remastered soundtrack, while "Special" launches the brand‑new Slap Fight MD mode, which keeps the frantic gameplay but swaps in fresh art, level layouts, weapons and a soundtrack composed by the legendary Yuzo Koshiro. The game was a joint effort by Toaplan and MNM Software and saw its only release through Tengen in Japan and South Korea. I love how the simple toggle lets you compare the retro vibe of the arcade version against the polished, more experimental take, all on a single Mega Drive cartridge.
