Summary
Fire Shark, known in Japan as Same! Same! Same! (鮫!鮫!鮫!), made its way from the arcade floor to the Sega Mega Drive in 1990, and it’s one of the rare cases where Toaplan handled the console conversion themselves. What’s especially intriguing is that the game wasn’t a single, uniform release – each region got its own version, and the European and US cartridges are tuned a touch easier than the original Japanese setting. Even the physical carts differ between territories, though collectors and fans are still piecing together exactly how those variations affect gameplay or hardware. For anyone digging into retro shooters, the subtle regional tweaks give Fire Shark a little extra mystery beyond its fast‑paced, bullet‑hell action.
Storyline
Same! Same! Same! drops you into an alternate version of Earth where the militaristic S Corps dominates the globe with its heavy‑arms production. As the world crumbles under S Corps’ relentless invasions, the only chance of resistance lies in a lone biplane called the Tiger Shark. Piloting the Tiger Shark, you must strike back against the occupying forces and try to turn the tide.
The game offers three different endings, which are unlocked according to the difficulty setting you choose. Each ending reflects how far the Tiger Shark’s daring raids have pushed S Corps toward defeat or domination.
