Summary

Radical Rex lets you ride a skate‑boarding, fire‑breathing T‑rex through a neon‑tinged prehistoric world that feels oddly at home on a 90s console. The dino’s toolkit includes a roar that wipes the screen clean, a burst of flame that temporarily freezes foes, and a bubble spray for underwater sections, giving each environment its own tactical flavor.

The game’s ten stages are a mix of hill‑gliding, platform hopping and classic kick‑and‑punch action. Enemies range from buzzing flies to hulking dinosaurs, and tougher ones demand a combo of fire and a final kick or a well‑timed scream. Collecting eggs, health, and power‑ups refills your fire breath and scream meters, while torches act as charge‑up checkpoints that light your way forward. After each level you face a Bomberman‑style mini‑round that can earn an extra continue, adding a surprising arcade twist.

Visually, the Genesis version leans into bright, cartoonish sprites, and the quirky villain Skriitch—a weasel‑like critter—replaces the original magician, keeping the tone light and absurd throughout the adventure.

Storyline

Radical Rex, a fire‑breathing Tyrannosaurus rex who rides a skateboard, is the hero of the game. He must rescue his land and his girlfriend, Rexanne, from an evil magician named Sethron. Along the way he battles dinosaurs, sea creatures and other monsters that stand in his path. In the Genesis and Sega CD versions the villain Sethron is swapped out for a weasel‑like mammal called Skriitch, who functions exactly like the original foe. The ultimate goal is to break the spell cast over the dinosaur race and restore peace to their world.
