Summary
Psy-O-Blade feels like stepping into a hand‑drawn anime world on the Genesis. The whole experience revolves around a simple cursor: you point, click, and the game reacts, whether you’re examining a mysterious console or striking up a conversation with a character. Navigation is split between two menu choices—“Move” to wander new locations and “Scroll” to pan around the current scene—so the pace is deliberately relaxed. There are no brain‑teasing puzzles; progress comes from talking, exploring, and using items you discover. The setting is a sleek, futuristic backdrop of competing world powers and off‑world colonies, giving the adventure a distinct sci‑fi flavor that sets it apart from more conventional platformers.
Storyline
In Psy‑O‑Blade, the story opens in the 21st century where three dominant powers vie for control: the Free World, the lingering Communist Block, and the newly formed New Communist Federation. All three back a global denuclearisation effort, prompting the Federation to create a terrifying non‑nuclear weapon—a killer satellite called “Raiden.” Rival powers scramble to develop their own orbital assassins, reigniting the threat of total annihilation.
Humanity, fearing its own extinction, begins colonising other worlds. By the 22nd century an experimental vessel, Septemius 1, is launched six light‑years from the Solar System, only to vanish after its computer, Racoon, sends a cryptic transmission. Players assume the role of Keith McDonnell, a 17‑year‑old crew member aboard the follow‑up ship Septemius 2, tasked with uncovering the mystery behind the lost ship and the ominous satellite arms race.
