Summary
Playing Pink Goes to Hollywood on the Genesis feels like stepping onto a bustling movie set. The starting house functions as a safe hub, unlike the SNES version where it doubles as a regular level. From the hub you wander into a “Sound Stage” full of moving sandbags, swivelling cameras and roaming spotlights before reaching each level’s door. After you clear a stage, a "Set Closed" sign blocks the entrance, letting you know the job’s done. The Genesis build also hands the Pink Panther a visible health bar, giving him more health than the SNES counterpart, and you can boost it with heart‑shaped icons scattered around the map. Collecting paw‑print squares flashes him invincible for a moment. Every time you enter or finish a level, his health resets to full, keeping the action consistently upbeat.
Storyline
Pink Goes to Hollywood follows the Pink Panther as he heads to Hollywood to audition for a big role. Immediately after arriving, his nemesis Inspector Clouseau gives chase, forcing Pink to dash into the MGM Studios. From the grand entrance the player can explore separate movie sets—a spooky graveyard, a creepy manor and a wild jungle—each acting as its own area.
The game uses a side‑scrolling perspective; Pink can jump, duck, run, climb and even punch foes with a boxing glove. Along the way he can grab props like magic carpets, umbrellas and stairs to reach higher platforms, while items such as stoplights, jackhammers, bowling balls, shields and supergloves provide extra firepower.
The adventure begins with Pink shrunken inside a house that serves as a hub, linking to all the other levels.
