Summary

Pepenga Pengo, often just called Pengo, is the surprising sequel that slipped onto the Sega Mega Drive in 1995. It never made it outside Japan, making it a hidden gem for anyone digging through regional releases. What really catches my eye is that it holds the distinction of being the final first‑party title Sega put out for the Mega Drive in that market. The game feels like a nostalgic nod to its 1982 arcade ancestor while trying to push the 16‑bit hardware a little further. For collectors, it’s a quirky footnote that marks the end of an era for Sega’s flagship console in its home country.
