Summary

Nobunaga no Yabou: Haouden, sometimes referred to simply as "Nobunaga's Ambition: Haouden," is a Japanese‑only strategy title that first appeared on the PC‑98 in December 1992 before a 1993 release on the Sega Genesis. Koei’s fifth entry in the series broke new ground by adding an expansion pack and shifting the focus of battles from whole provinces to individual castles, giving each encounter a tighter, more tactical feel. The Genesis version arrived later, bringing those castle‑centric skirmishes to console players who were eager for a deeper strategic experience. Though it never saw an official Western launch, the game’s innovations left a lasting imprint on the series and on Japanese strategy gaming of the early ’90s.
