Summary
Nekketsu High School Dodgeball Club: MD Soccer hit the Mega Drive in Japan in August 1992, courtesy of Palsoft. Unlike its 8‑bit ancestors, the Genesis release gives you all 13 international squads straight away, even in VS mode.
Matches play out like soccer, but each side fields only six players—a goalkeeper, two defenders, a midfielder and two forwards. You control a single player and can command teammates to pass or shoot, while the game drops offsides and fouls entirely. Repeated tackles can knock opponents out for the rest of the half, and each team can unleash up to five signature “super shots” per half, triggered by spectacular moves such as bicycle kicks or diving headers.
The playing surface varies—sand, ice or dirt—changing both player speed and ball bounce. Two modes cover the experience: a Tournament mode for one or two players against CPU foes, and a VS Match for head‑to‑head duels on any of the diverse arenas.
Storyline
Nekketsu Koukou Dodgeball‑bu: MD Soccer‑hen follows a tight‑knit crew of eight students—Atsushi, Genei, Hiroshi, Kunio, Masa, Masahiro, Susumu and Takashi—as they form a makeshift soccer squad. Determined to prove themselves, they enter a high‑school soccer tournament that pits them against thirteen rival schools.
The story tracks their gritty matches, the growing camaraderie among the teammates, and the escalating challenges of facing seasoned opponents from across the region. Each game tests their skill, strategy, and resolve, driving the group toward an ultimate showdown for the championship.
