Summary

Mega Bomberman drops you into a top‑down maze where bombs are both weapon and key. The arenas are littered with explosive bricks that hide power‑ups and enemy eggs, while solid blocks provide crucial cover.

The game stages are packed with attitude – Jammin' Jungle, Vexin' Volcano, Slammin' Sea, Crankin' Castle, Thrashin' Tundra, and the synthetic comet of Bagular. Each area throws different hazards and boss patterns, rewarding players who learn the layout.

Multiplayer is the true showpiece, allowing up to four friends (thanks to the Genesis’ four‑controller limitation) to brawl in fast‑paced bomb wars. The single‑player mode still shines, with dozens of enemies, recurring characters like Louies, and the slick, modern white Bomberman design that debuted in Bomberman ’94.

Storyline

In Mega Bomberman, the peaceful Planet Bomber is guarded by five elemental spirits. The tranquility ends when the villain Buglear (also known as Bagular) leads a Robot Army that shatters the Spirit Pictures, the source of the spirits' magical power. The destruction splits the planet into five floating fragments. Bomberman arrives, tasked with retrieving the broken Spirit Pictures, defeating the robots, and reuniting the planet. By restoring the pictures, the five spirits regain their strength and the world is healed.
