Summary

The Magic School Bus on Sega Genesis was a trailblazer, being the first title created for a medium other than PC CD‑ROM. Each mission has you piloting the iconic bus through space, snapping photos of planets, moons and stars, blasting apart meteors, and gathering space buoys to refuel before you land on a platform and trek on foot to locate Ms. Frizzle. Once you find her, the stage wraps up with a sliding‑jigsaw puzzle that locks the adventure together.

The game leans heavily into the PBS kids show’s educational vibe: you explore one planet at a time, absorb facts about each world, and then apply that knowledge to solve puzzles. A standout feature lets you design your own solar system, arranging planets and moons however you like for endless discovery.

Critics were split – Sega‑16 praised it with a 90/100 score, while Video Games & Computer Entertainment gave it a more modest 60/100.

Storyline

The Magic School Bus, The on Sega Genesis lets players embark on a solar‑system adventure. The game starts with a destination menu that ranges from the Moon all the way out to Pluto.

You play as Phoebe, and after Ms. Frizzle launches the bus into space, your task is to locate her. The journey is guided by Ms. Frizzle and her assistant Liz, who point you toward each planetary stop.

At every planet you explore the environment and learn facts about the world you’re visiting, turning a classic educational series into an interactive space trek.
