Summary

The Lost Vikings is a side‑scrolling platform adventure that lets you juggle three distinct Vikings, swapping control at any moment to solve each puzzle. Every level is a tiny contraption where Erik’s speed, Baleog’s sword‑and‑bow arsenal, and Olaf’s shield must all be used in concert to reach the exit.

Erik darts ahead, can jump higher than his companions, and even bash through fragile walls with his helmet. Baleog handles combat, slashing foes with his sword or firing an endless supply of arrows to hit distant switches. Olaf’s shield doubles as a protective barrier, a makeshift platform for his friends, and a glider that lets the team glide over gaps.

Each Viking carries three health points, which drain from enemy hits or long falls; a depleted Viking dies, but the game offers unlimited continues, so the challenge stays about clever coordination rather than permanent loss. Items like keys, bombs, and food can be passed between characters when they stand together, adding a layer of resource‑management to the brain‑teasers.

The Genesis version expands the experience with five exclusive stages and a three‑player simultaneous mode, while a two‑player co‑op lets each person control a Viking and swap to the third whenever needed. All three heroes must arrive at the exit together, making teamwork the core of the fun.

Storyline

The Lost Vikings follows three Norse heroes—Erik the Swift, Baleog the Fierce, and Olaf the Stout—who are abducted by Tomator, the emperor of the alien Croutonian empire, and placed in an inter‑galactic zoo.

After escaping the alien ship, the trio finds themselves scattered across a series of bizarre time‑periods, each filled with strange obstacles and puzzles.

They must work together to navigate these eras, eventually confronting Tomator in a final showdown and defeating him to secure a way home.
