Summary

Lemmings on the Sega Genesis is a mind‑bending puzzle‑strategy romp that lets you herd a chaotic herd of tiny, misdirected rodents. You hand out eight distinct skills—Climber, Floater, Bomber, Blocker, Builder, Basher, Miner and Digger—to shape the terrain and coax the lemmings toward a glowing exit, all while a ticking clock threatens a spectacular explosion.

The levels are neatly divided into four difficulty tiers—Fun, Tricky, Taxing and Mayhem—so each stage feels fresh, and the bright, animated graphics keep the action lively. A split‑screen two‑player mode pits friends against each other, each trying to rescue more lemmings than the opponent, adding a competitive edge to the otherwise solitary puzzle.

Sunsoft’s 1992 Genesis port even includes the Oh No! More Lemmings expansion, packing an extra hundred single‑player stages and ten two‑player challenges. Critics praised the title for its addictive, indirect‑control gameplay, noting how it foreshadowed mechanics later seen in real‑time strategy games.
