Storyline

As you progress, Erwin can stay loyal to the Light, switch to the Empire after a proposal from Leon, the Blue Dragon Knights’ leader, or even forge an independent faction that opposes both.

Choosing the Light path keeps Erwin fighting the Empire until it collapses, while the Imperial path flips the roles: the former allies become enemies and Erwin must defeat the Light’s commanders. If you side with the Empire, you can later betray it after obtaining Langrisser, prompting Böser to join your cause and offering a chaotic route that may end with Erwin confronting the Goddess Lushiris herself. The Independent and Chaos routes each lead to a showdown with the Empire’s ruler, Kaiser Bernhardt, who either dies by Erwin’s hand or warns him before his defeat.

Lushiris, the goddess behind the Light, reacts differently depending on Erwin’s choices. On the Light path she remains silent, but on the Independent and Chaos routes she intervenes, first as a distant overseer and then in person, warning Erwin that his power could bring ruin. The game’s multiple endings hinge on whether Erwin ultimately seeks peace, domination, or a darker balance between demons and humans.
