Summary
The Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey & Minnie, later retitled Disney's Magical Quest 2, debuted on the Sega Genesis (and SNES) in 1994 and later appeared on the Game Boy Advance in 2003.
The outfit system is the star: the basic suit lets you grab and spin‑throw enemies, the sweeper uses a battery‑powered vacuum to turn foes into coins, the safari gear adds wall‑climbing and vine swinging, and the cowboy outfit gives a high‑jump hobby horse and a cork‑shooting pop‑gun that uses a power meter. Co‑op play lets two players adventure together, a first for the series, while the original used a turn‑based method. Passwords saved progress on the Genesis/SNES; the GBA version replaced them with a save feature and link‑cable co‑op.
Reviewers praised the colorful graphics, catchy music, and the variety the outfits provide, calling the two‑player mode a strong point. They also noted the game’s easy difficulty and short length, and felt the GBA port didn’t push the handheld’s limits.
Storyline
Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey & Minnie begins with Mickey and Minnie hopping on a bus bound for the circus on the edge of town. The bus rolls in a little late, and Goofy greets them, announcing that everyone inside the circus tents has vanished. Skeptical but curious, the duo decides to investigate the empty tents themselves. Inside they discover that their friends Pluto and Donald are also missing.
Determined to solve the mystery, Mickey and Minnie set out to uncover why the entire circus population disappeared. The game follows their search through the deserted midway, clues, and hidden passages as they piece together what happened. Their adventure drives the story forward, turning a simple day at the circus into a puzzling quest.
