Summary

Ferrari Grand Prix Challenge is essentially a regional re‑skin of Nakajima Satoru Kanshuu F‑1 Hero MD, carrying the endorsement of former F1 driver Satoru Nakajima. The Genesis version lets you race in a Grand Prix mode, free‑practice, or time‑attack, and it supports one or two players with a simple password system to keep your progress. While the track list mirrors the 1992 season, the team roster is frozen to 1991, and the developers slipped in bonus circuits like Autopolis, Fuji Speedway, an oval training course, and a notoriously tricky road track for the Japanese edition. In the North American and European releases the lineup was swapped for more familiar venues—Long Beach, Mid‑Ohio, the fictional Oyster Bay and Indianapolis—yet the background graphics stay the same and Scuderia Ferrari is named outright. Notably, it’s one of only three Mega Drive titles that can hook up to the AX‑1E analog controller.
