Summary
Eliminate Down drops you straight into an eight‑stage assault against bizarre alien swarms, and you’re handed three directional weapons from the get‑go. The forward blaster, rear laser, and diagonal four‑way bombs each level up through three power‑up stages, with the blaster gaining a Super Crash Shot that transforms into a piercing white laser able to cut through background elements. A simple shield called the Barrier absorbs two hits, while a pause‑screen speed tweak lets you fine‑tune ship maneuverability on the fly. The game shuns checkpoints, so losing all lives forces a restart of the current level, but hitting 100,000 points grants an extra life. Hidden in the main menu is a Concentration‑style mini‑game that tests quick memory under time pressure, adding a quirky off‑shoot to the relentless scrolling action.
Storyline
Eliminate Down drops you into the dawn of humanity’s space‑pioneering era, just as the 30th century is about to roll in. From a mysterious space distortion the alien Amuleto race bursts onto the scene, hurtling toward Earth with clearly hostile intent. Their first wave wipes out human research teams, and the alien fleet quickly swells, threatening to overwhelm the fledgling colonies.
The only hope for survival lies in the Steel Pyron, a versatile space fighter equipped for any combat scenario and capable of warp‑drive jumps. Pilots must master its multi‑role systems to strike back at the Amuleto armada and turn the tide before humanity’s last outpost is lost.
