Summary

Devilish: The Next Possession (or simply "Devilish") pushes the classic brick‑breaker formula into fresh territory by giving players two paddles to control. The lower paddle works like any traditional Arkanoid stick, shielding the ball from slipping off the bottom of the screen, while the upper paddle can swivel and strike from different angles, letting you blast away the demonic foes that litter each stage. As you smash bricks and enemies, the playfield scrolls vertically, forcing the ball ever onward toward a level‑specific boss. The sequel, called Bad Omen in Japan, adds a two‑player mode so a friend can team up, each handling a paddle for cooperative mayhem. With faster speeds, endless enemies and an unforgiving forward scroll, the game feels like a harsher, more strategic take on the original paddle‑breakers of the ’80s.

Storyline

In Devilish: The Next Possession, a love‑struck prince and princess are cursed by a jealous demon, turning the royal pair into stone paddles that resemble pinball flippers. The kingdom falls under the demon’s rule, but a mysterious ball materializes, capable of bouncing off the enchanted paddles. By striking the ball with the stone flippers, the hero can launch it toward the demonic forces, shattering their hold on the realm. Each successful hit weakens the demons, allowing the ball to carve a path of liberation. The game’s narrative blends classic pinball mechanics with a fairy‑tale rescue, turning the court’s tragedy into an arcade‑style showdown.
