Summary

Deadly Moves drops you into the shoes of Joe, a young American kenpo fighter who’s been secretly training to become the world’s strongest combatant. An old martial artist nudges him onto a globe‑spanning quest, where each new teacher pushes his skills farther and forces him to prove he’s the ultimate fighter.

What sets the game apart is its RPG‑style progression: as you win bouts you can raise Joe’s strength, speed and endurance, shaping his fighting style on the fly. Battles unfold on a two‑plane arena, a nod to the Fatal Fury series, letting you dodge and launch attacks from different depths. The roster is a colorful world tour—Warren from Hawaii, Reayon the Thai‑born Chinese martial artist, Vagnad the massive Russian wrestler, Spanish matador Nick, kabuki performer Buoh, Chinese fighter Gaoluon, Kenya’s Baraki, and the hidden champion Ranker.

Although the Genesis box flaunts a blood‑splattered punch, the game itself contains no graphic gore; the SNES version simply recolors the splash as sweat, keeping the core experience identical across platforms.

Storyline

In Deadly Moves, the single‑player campaign puts you in the shoes of Joe, a fighter determined to claim the title of Champion of Champions. As you battle through a series of increasingly tough opponents, each victory brings Joe closer to the ultimate showdown. The final boss is Ranker, the reigning American Champion of Champions, who awaits at the end of the gauntlet. Defeating Ranker crowns Joe as the new champion and ends his quest.
