Summary

Dangerous Seed drops you into a frantic vertical scroll where you pilot one of three distinct starships, each with its own firing style. The real trick is merging the three vessels into the Moon Diver—a sturdier craft with a reinforced shield and extra firepower—by collecting the Alpha, Beta and Gamma wings as you progress through the tubes.

The game lets you swap wing arrangements on the fly (press C), letting you prioritize rapid shots, homing missiles or the melt‑missile that dissolves foes on contact. Bombs are limited but handy for clearing swarms, and large Turtle enemies drop power capsules that upgrade your arsenal with ring lasers and other specials.

The Mega Drive port, released only in Japan, tacks on extra stages and an arranged soundtrack that feels richer than the arcade mix. Visually, the title shines with crisp sprites and smooth scrolling, while the music drives the relentless pace.

Critics praised those graphics and the adrenaline‑pumping action, but noted that the formula feels familiar and doesn’t push the shooter genre into new territory.

Storyline

In Dangerous Seed you command a fleet of three ships—Alpha, Beta and Gamma—tasked with eradicating the alien menace known as Danger Seed before it can annihilate humanity. The mission begins oddly, as Beta and Gamma break off early, leaving you to pilot Alpha alone at the outset.

The adventure spans twelve "tubes," each set on a different planet in our Solar System and capped by a timed boss battle. Every ship boasts its own attack style, and during the fifth tube the trio can merge into a single craft called the Moon Diver. Defeating each boss and ultimately the Danger Seed base thwarts the alien invasion and saves mankind.
