Summary

Crying: Aseimei Sensou is a fast‑paced, horizontally scrolling shooter that feels like a blur of neon and bass‑heavy synths. You pilot one of four distinct ships, each with its own weapon set and speed, and you can juggle up to three different attacks by grabbing the floating colored balls that appear mid‑flight. The D‑Pad lets you glide in eight directions, and the quirky Power Star mechanic lets you block incoming fire by placing it directly in the projectile’s path. Lives start at three but can be boosted by 1‑UP icons or by hitting the 20,000‑, 50,000‑ and 100,000‑point thresholds. The stages are bright, layered with foreground and background art, and while scenery never harms you, a careless drift into a wall can crush your ship. Eight increasingly brutal levels await, with the final three unlocking only on higher difficulties.

Storyline

In Crying – Aseimei Sensou, humanity’s last hope hangs on the orbiting platform O.P. Odysseus, circling the war‑torn planet Avaron. A global biowar unleashed a retrovirus that mutated the world’s ecosystems into lethal new lifeforms, forcing the surviving humans into cryogenic stasis aboard the station. After centuries of sleep, the onboard computer awakens the crew and four organic vessels known as the Biowarriors.

Computer probes report that Avaron’s surface is still hostile, but pockets of livable terrain exist. The Biowarriors are dispatched to scout these zones, gathering data on planetary conditions and searching for a safe haven where the remaining survivors can eventually return. Throughout the mission, the players navigate the mutated landscape, confronting the lingering biological threats left by the virus.

The game concludes with all four Biowarriors soaring back toward the mothership, their scans complete, hinting that humanity may one day repopulate Avaron once the planet recovers.
