Summary

Crüe Ball rolls out as a glossy, metal‑infused pinball experience on the Sega Genesis, built around three Mötley Crüe tracks—"Dr. Feelgood," "Live Wire" and "Home Sweet Home." The table is split into nine levels, each grouped into bottom, middle and top zones, and the player’s progress hinges on blasting a wall behind a floating head named Craig to "crank it up" and unlock the next stage. The showdown comes with the villainous Mr. Gore, who only falls when three balls are fired straight into his gaping mouth. Behind the scenes, the game started as the prototype "Twisted Flipper" and almost carried the MTV‑blocked title Headbangers Ball before Mötley Crüe was added late in development. Designed by Mark Sprenger and composer Brian L. Schmidt, it earned the Sega Seal of Quality for Best Sound at CES and drew praise for its realistic ball inertia, even if reviewers noted a lack of variety compared to titles like Dragon's Fury.
