Summary
Cosmic Spacehead thrusts you into a quirky point‑and‑click adventure where collecting odd items and dropping them in the right spots fuels the progress. A simple cursor and written commands drive most of the exploration, while each major sector on Planet Linoleum hides a teleportation pad that activates via a card—often leaving the hero with a puzzling side‑effect you must sort out.
Between the dialogue‑heavy zones, you leap into frantic arcade stretches, dashing across scrolling screens, dodging free‑falls and bizarre enemies. Gather ten Cosmic candies and an extra life pops up, and hidden passwords scattered throughout keep you on track. The game’s unique Pie Slap mode lets you boost jump height and reverse mid‑air, easing the platform trials. Notably, the Mega Drive edition arrived on a Codemasters “2‑in‑1” cartridge with Fantastic Dizzy, sporting an art style that diverges from the NES and other ports.
Storyline
Cosmic Spacehead (often just called Spacehead) follows Linus, an alien from the planet Linoleum who crash‑lands on the legendary Earth. After returning home expecting a hero’s welcome, Linus discovers his fellow Linomen doubt the very existence of Earth, so he decides to go back—this time armed with a camera. With no Linobucks to his name, he must wander the planet to earn both a vehicle and the equipment he needs. Along the way Linus uses a fake Larry Flynt ID to enter a bumper‑car contest, smashes a robot uprising in the industrial city of Detroitica, and even refuels at an abandoned space station. Each quirky mission brings him closer to the ultimate goal of documenting Earth for his skeptical homeworld.
