Summary

Cadash on the Sega Genesis blends classic side‑scrolling platform action with genuine RPG progression. You can team up with a friend and pick either the brawny fighter or the spell‑casting mage, each offering a distinct combat feel and stat growth. As you dash through five varied stages, you’ll rack up experience, level up in true RPG fashion, and collect gold, keys, and a handful of useful items—herbs to heal, antidotes for poison, and the unique elixir that doubles as an extra life you can actually buy. Villages scattered between levels let you stock up on weapons, armor, and those lifesaving supplies. The Genesis version leans into a darker visual palette, tweaks enemy damage and AI, and even drops the giant kelp boss, giving the adventure a slightly grittier edge while keeping the core platform‑RPG charm intact.

Storyline

Cadash takes place in a medieval fantasy world reminiscent of classic sword‑and‑sorcery tales. Demons and other abominations dwell in the underground kingdom of Cadash, a realm that once shared the light with humans.

The Balrog, a powerful demonic wizard born of a human woman, seeks to mingle his blood with that of a human king so he can break free from his subterranean prison and rule the world of men. Over centuries he has amassed armies, swiftly conquering human kingdoms, and now sets his sights on the Kingdom of Dirzir.

One night the beautiful Princess Salassa is snatched from the Keep of Deerzar, the capital of Dirzir, and taken to Castle Cadash, where the Balrog plans a ritual to bind himself to her and become invincible. King Dilsarl of Dirzir promises a reward to anyone who rescues his daughter, prompting many brave heroes to descend into the depths of Cadash.
