Summary

Bugs Bunny in Double Trouble lets you hop through a mishmash of cartoon‑style stages that feel ripped straight from classic Looney Tunes shorts. The Genesis version uses a quirky pre‑rendered 3D look that makes the settings pop with bright colors—whether you’re flipping “Rabbit Season” signs in the Duck! Rabbit, Duck! level or rounding up bull‑fighting gear in Bully for Bugs. Scattered Bonus Stars unlock a secret stage, adding a little extra incentive to explore each level fully. Critics at the time praised the eye‑catching visuals and the faithful cameo lineup of Daffy, Elmer, Yosemite Sam and Marvin the Martian, but many found the controls clunky enough to turn platforming sections into a minor frustration. Overall, the game earned average scores (around a 5½/10 from EGM), offering enough nostalgia to satisfy hardcore Warner Bros. fans but little beyond that.

Storyline

In Bugs Bunny: Double Trouble on the Sega Genesis, Bugs Bunny drifts off to sleep and finds himself in a vivid dream. He discovers Yosemite Sam tinkering with a giant carrot serum, then orders Gossamer to fetch Bugs’ brain for his robot, sparking a frantic chase. Bugs stumbles onto a strange Televisor that whisks him through classic cartoon settings, each level presenting a new objective.

After conquering four distinct stages, Bugs breaks into the haunted castle’s laboratory, defeats Gossamer and Sam, and escapes in a rocket ship. The launch sends him careening into outer space, where he grabs a nearby space scooter to zip across the galaxy.

His next showdown is with Marvin the Martian and his loyal K‑9 on the Red Planet. Bugs flips levers, foils Marvin’s scheme, and hurls a rescued stick of dynamite back at the Martian, blowing up Mars. He awakens in his bed to find a giant carrot on his pillow, confirming the dream was anything but ordinary.
