Summary

Bubsy II feels like a nostalgic remix of its predecessor, but with enough twists to keep the platform‑hopping fresh. Instead of marching through a single path, you can hop into any of the six worlds whenever you like (the final world stays locked until the others are cleared), and the new health system lets Bubsy survive three hits before a life is lost. Collecting marbles replaces the old yarn balls, and the added Nerf‑style Ballzooka gives you a playful way to clear enemies. A quirky multiplayer mode even lets a friend control one of Bubsy’s younger relatives, turning the solo run into a chaotic co‑op. The game’s development story is oddly tied to a TV pilot, with characters from that short surfacing in the levels. Critics praised the multiple routes, tighter controls and bright audiovisuals, though seasoned players noted the challenge could feel a bit soft.

Storyline

In Bubsy II, the mischievous entrepreneur Oinker P. Hamm (also called Oinkton P. Hamm) unveils the Amazatorium, a theme‑park‑museum packed with portals to virtual worlds drawn from various historical eras. Behind the scenes he uses a time‑machine to pilfer artifacts and rewrite history, hiding his loot inside the park’s attractions. When Bubsy’s niece Terri and nephew Terry hear rumors that the Amazatorium will be swamped on opening day, they sneak in the night before to investigate. Their curiosity triggers a rescue mission as Bubsy and his sidekick Arnold chase after them, determined to stop Oinker’s scheme. The duo must navigate the museum’s shifting corridors, battle the tyrannical pig leader, and close the portals before the stolen past is forever trapped inside the Amazatorium’s exhibits.
