Summary

Bubble & Squeak kicks off like a classic side‑scroller, but the moment I take control of the bald‑headed kid I’m already hunting for hidden nooks among the scrolling ledges. The enemies are oddly generous—shoot them and they spill coins, turning combat into a quirky treasure hunt. I’m constantly dodging their attacks while scouting for secret passages that reward curiosity.

Halfway through the first of the 30 levels the game throws a curveball: I meet Squeak, a blue alien with a much lower jump. Guiding him becomes a puzzle in itself; I have to pause, flick switches, and sometimes wait for him to catch up before we can progress. The level design forces us to think about timing and cooperation rather than just speed.

One of the most satisfying tricks is standing on Squeak’s head, which launches me into an extra‑high jump that reaches otherwise inaccessible platforms. It’s a simple mechanic that feels like a secret shortcut, rewarding the teamwork between the kid and his alien companion.
