Summary

Blue Sphere Plus takes the classic Sonic & Knuckles hack and expands it into a surprisingly flexible playground. The biggest change is the character‑selection system: pressing B or C now cycles through five distinct setups—Sonic + Tails (blue + orange bumpers), Sonic alone (both blue), Tails (both orange), Knuckles + Tails (red + orange), and Knuckles (both red). Thanks to SRAM support the game remembers the last character you chose and the most recent level you cleared, so you can pick up right where you left off. Holding A while hitting Start forces every subsequent stage to begin at top speed, a handy shortcut for speed‑run practice, though it doesn’t persist after you quit. The menu is now reachable with a simple Start press, and selecting “SONIC 3K” launches a marathon through all sixteen Special Stages—including the two hidden ones—while disabling saves and code entry until the final stage resets the game. On top of that, the hack retains full lock‑on compatibility, letting you attach custom level files or any Sonic title that normally triggers special modes when paired with Sonic & Knuckles.
