Storyline

In the Sega Genesis game Baby's Day Out, nine‑month‑old Bennington "Bink" Cotwell lives in a Chicago mansion with his socialite parents. A trio of crooks—Eddie Mancuso, Norby LeBlaw, and Veeko Riley—pose as newspaper baby photographers, kidnap Bink and demand a $5 million ransom. While trying to lull him with his favorite picture book, the criminals fall asleep, letting Bink slip away after spotting a pigeon in the story and a real one by the window.

The FBI, led by Agent Dale Grissom, teams up with Bink’s parents and nanny Gilbertine to track the infant. Bink wanders the city interpreting everything as scenes from his book: he rides a blue bus, is mistaken for another baby in a department store, befriends a protective gorilla at the zoo, and survives a chaotic construction site. Each mishap thwarts the kidnappers, who eventually abandon the chase.

Gilbertine predicts Bink’s next stop will be the old soldiers’ home, and the baby indeed finds entertainment among the elderly residents. His parents arrive, joyfully reunite with him, and the bewildered criminals return the book before being arrested by the FBI.

Back at the mansion, Bink is tucked into bed as his parents discuss hiring a normal photographer for his next portrait. Unaware, the baby awakens and reaches for another storybook, "Baby's Trip to China," hinting at his next adventure.
