Summary

Andre Agassi Tennis landed in the early ’90s as a multi‑platform showcase of the era’s flashier tennis stars, hitting the SNES, Genesis, Master System, Game Gear and later even mobile phones. The game leans heavily on Agassi’s larger‑than‑life persona—long hair, earrings, and those neon shirts—while the rest of the field is a roster of eight generic male and female competitors.

You can jump straight into an exhibition, hone your swing in practice, or embark on a career that drags you across grass, clay, indoor and (in the Sega version) hard courts around the globe. Winning tournaments nets cash, and after you’ve collected every title the game forces a final grudge match against Andre himself, the only real‑world name on the roster.

Each opponent is rated for movement speed, serve accuracy, and forehand/backhand strength, so timing and positioning become as important as raw power. Smashes, volleys, passing shots and a full suite of backhand/forehand options are there, but a mistimed swing can send the ball out or, embarrassingly, straight into your own head.

The courts themselves differ only subtly, but the 16‑bit versions add a quirky "Skins" mode where every point carries a cash value based on how many times the ball is struck. Critics were lukewarm; Sega Master Force gave it a 67% score, noting the solid mechanics but thin personality beyond Agassi’s flashy image.
