Summary
Alien 3 (stylized ALIEN3) drops you into the grim corridors of the Fiorina 161 prison colony as Ellen Ripley, letting you run, jump, climb ladders and crawl through tight tunnels. The controls feel tight enough that you can weave between alien attacks while still having the freedom to open doors or ride elevators at a moment’s notice.
A handful of weapons—pulse rifle, flamethrower and grenades—are complemented by a motion‑tracker that beeps when an alien is nearby, adding a subtle layer of tension. Each stage begins at a computer terminal where you pick objectives like sealing doors or rescuing inmates, and a ticking clock forces you to keep moving.
The Genesis version packs fifteen stages and showcases larger alien models than its counterparts, giving the creatures a more imposing presence. Critics praised the game’s detailed graphics, smooth animation, suspenseful music and the balance between arcade‑style action and genuine dread, calling it the movie‑game fans had been waiting for.
Storyline
In the Sega Genesis version of Alien 3 you step into the shoes of Ellen Ripley, the series’ iconic heroine. The game opens with Ripley in cryo‑sleep aboard the Sulaco, only to have the ship crash‑land on the bleak prison colony Fiorina 161 after an alien stowaway wreaks havoc. As you explore the facility, you must seal doors, rescue fellow inmates, and fend off both Xenomorphs and Facehuggers. The objectives guide you through the same grim corridors seen in the film, keeping the tension high as unarmed prisoners scramble for survival. The story builds to a climactic showdown where Ripley confronts the Alien Queen in a final, desperate battle.
