Summary

WWF Rage in the Cage (often just called Rage in the Cage) throws you into a neon‑lit arena where the action is punctuated by real video clips of the WWF superstars. The opening FMV, Howard Finkel’s booming introductions, and celebratory footage after a tournament win give the Sega CD version a glossy, TV‑like feel that was unheard of in wrestling games at the time.

The core gameplay feels familiar if you’ve played WWF Royal Rumble, but the tug‑of‑war grapple system adds a tactile push‑and‑pull to every lockup. Each of the 20 wrestlers—more than any WWF title before it—has a full set of punches, kicks, running attacks, a turnbuckle move, and a signature finisher, plus the option to pull off illegal eye gouges or chokeholds when the referee isn’t watching.

Match variety is where the game really shines: a standard One Fall bout, a no‑referee Brawl where anything goes, a steel‑cage escape challenge, and a single‑player Tournament that ends with a victory FMV. Even though tag teams appear on the roster, there’s no tag‑team mode, keeping the focus squarely on one‑on‑one chaos.
