Summary

Theme Park on the Sega Mega‑CD (often just called Theme Park) lets you start with a free plot in the United Kingdom and a modest budget, then build a full‑blown amusement empire. You can place everything from simple bouncy castles to towering roller‑coasters, stock stalls with ice‑cream or arcade games, and even schedule themed shows like clowns or medieval acts. Each attraction needs regular maintenance – neglect a ride long enough and it will literally explode.

Staff are more than just faces; you hire entertainers, security guards, mechanics and handymen, and their numbers directly affect cleanliness, safety and visitor happiness. Research unlocks new rides and upgrades, while higher difficulty levels add stock‑market trading and negotiations to the mix. Sandbox mode strips away those pressures for pure creative play.

The Mega‑CD port adds a CD‑quality soundtrack and was handled by Domark, though none of the Sega mouse peripherals are supported. Released in 1994, it became the first hit theme‑park simulator and later inspired the RollerCoaster Tycoon series and a fully 3D sequel, Theme Park World.

Storyline

In the original concept for Theme Park on the Sega CD, you would play as a nephew who has just inherited a massive fortune from his aunt. The entire inheritance is earmarked for building the world’s largest and most profitable theme park. Your task is to invest every penny into rides, attractions, and facilities to turn the fledgling park into a cash‑generating empire. The storyline frames the gameplay as a family legacy, pushing you to maximize profits while living up to your aunt’s grand vision.
