Summary

Space Adventure – Cobra: The Legendary Bandit feels like a love letter to the golden age of CD‑based storytelling. The game borrows Snatcher’s cinematic, point‑and‑click structure while plunging you into the gritty world of Buichi Terasawa’s Cobra series. What really catches my eye is that the Sega CD version arrived in 1995, right at the tail end of the console’s life, making it one of the final titles you could snag for the system. Even more striking, it earned the ESRB’s Mature rating – a first for any anime‑licensed game at the time. As a sequel to the Japan‑only Cobra: Kokuryuuou no Densetsu, it carries forward the legacy of a franchise that never quite broke into the mainstream here, yet its atmospheric FMV and mature tone still manage to stand out among the era’s releases.

Storyline

In "Space Adventure, The – Cobra the Legendary Bandit" (often just called Cobra the Legendary Bandit), you step into the shoes of the manga hero Cobra. While waiting in a bar, he discovers that the Galaxy Patrol has placed a bounty on his own head and that a beautiful bounty hunter, Jane Royal, is after him. The plot thickens when Cobra’s arch‑nemesis, Crystal Boy, the leader of the Pirate Guild, shows up seeking a hidden treasure. Jane’s father concealed the treasure’s coordinates in tattoos on the backs of his triplet daughters, and Crystal Boy is hunting the sisters to claim it. Realising they share a common enemy, Cobra and Jane team up to locate the sisters, protect the tattoos, and thwart Crystal Boy’s plans.
